MIRACLE CHILD

Feb 28, 2012 12:53pm (EST)

Knowing I was going to have another child bought so much joy,I was so excitedbut not every story has a fairy tale ending. I remember this day, complaining of my back hurting and cramping,at first I was able to sleep through it,but about 3 days later it was unbearable. To the ER went.Wait let me back up.Prior to the ER visit I have been to my doctor regularly, they do the regular, check the baby, weight check, urine dipstick test. Ok things come out okay as so the Dr says. But all of a sudden rapid weight gain,I thought maybe because I was actually eating but you couldn't tell by the looks of me. So yeah I'm told my blood pressure was slightly elevated,no worries.
So back to the ER they hooked me up on a monitor, yeah real contractions. Okay now urinalysis, blood pressure check. Wow Urine had some much protein like 3 times of the amount, blood pressure was out of this world, something like132/110 but yet all I was complaining about was my back.Come to find our my back was hurting because my kidneys/liver where trying to shut down. Preeclampsia. I never knew what that was until this day.The magnum sulfate was not my friend, that's when I actually bloated up,I wasn't all puffy until I was on the Mag. The upsetting part was inducing labor they would start the meds than stop and start the next day. Horrible. I was on all kinds of bloos pressure meds from IV to pills. 187 lbs I gained 20 in the hospital on Mag. Mind you I was a very small person to began with, totally new person. Finally I remember some ballon thing they did to help dilate, late in the night I dilated enough to deliver.
Every doctor/nurse of every specialty were there because they were sure she was going to have issues. There were none, she screamed her lungs out, very vocal.Nothing underdeveloped about that. I held my girl for a minute before I gave her to dad,I didn't get to see her so dad would take pics if her in the NICUand come back up & let me see the pics.So finally I go down to see her after 3 weeks in the hospital. I was hoping she would come home with me but my baby girl needed to gain weight in order to leave. So 12/25/2010 my daughter came home! Excited.
I believe a lot could of been prevented on the doctor behalf. Its been over a year I have been 6 months without bp meds its controlled now and now I am enjoying ny family without being downed by meds & effects of preeclampsia!
