The NuvRing question

unit27_08 - 11:13pm Mar 31, 2012 EST
Don't Take forgranit of what you have today because what you have today you might not have tomorrow

Hi my name is Heather, 4 weeks after I had my son the doctor asked me about what birth control I wanted to go on. I said I would try the NuvaRing. He said ok it's simple once you start your cycle you have 7 days to put it in. I thought ok sounds easy enough. So I got the Rx filled and got the book of info about it and in the book it says "If you did NOT use a hormonal contraceptive in the past month insert NuvaRing on the first day of your cycle (the first day of menstrual bleeding)" So I did that and followed it to the T. I had it in for 2 weeks and was still bleeding and felt sick so I took it out. My normal cycle is at the end of every month and I haven't started yet. Could that ring have messed up my cycle?

Come to ShareUnion 2012: It's the BEST weekend ever!!!

I'm with Lauren, it can take a long time for your cycle to normalize after giving birth. I had my second son in June, I got my first cycle the following January and then not again until April and regularly after that. You could call your OB if you are worried, but it can take a long time for things to "return to normal" and your post-baby normal could be different than pre-baby normal.

Congratulations on the birth of your son. Birth control can be tricky post-baby. I agree with the ladies, I would call your OB and speak to him or his nurse, I am sure they will be able to help you out.

Take care,
Ellen

Thank you ladies I guess I could call but I'm not for sure if I really trust them any more with everything that has happen to my son and family so I might call a different OB.

A moment in our arms, a lifetime in our hearts.

I understand that as well. We discontinued care with an OB we had during our daughter's pregnancy and will only go those we trust and have a long standing relationship with. There is so much lost when we loose a lil' one, and trust in doctors can be one of them that is very difficult to get back.

I agree with Lauren it is so important to find medical professionals that you trust. Good luck in finding someone you feel comfortable with.
