The Little Mighty One
mjlennox - 04:57am May 4, 2012 ESTOn February 7th, 1984 a baby girl named Megan Jade VanEycke was born into the world. I was born 2 ˝ months early(at 27 weeks gestation) and weighed only 3 lbs. 4oz. I had to stay at the University of Washington Hospital NICU for 3 months. My parents and grandparents drove up to see me every day and watched as their “little mighty one” progressed into a healthy baby.
Being born premature caused my eyes to be underdeveloped. I had to stay in an incubator and the doctors kept my eyes covered for the first few weeks. At first the doctors said; “other than my eyes being underdeveloped I could have many different health issues” and they didn’t know what to tell my parents to expect. As time went on I began to get stronger and develop more. In no time I was caught up physically with other babies my age. I am a miracle Baby!
Today I am a healthy 28 year old mother of two boys who were born full term and healthy. I am so grateful to have had the support of March of Dimes when I was born. Without the help of this organization who knows if I would have even made it to live the wonderful life that I share with my family. Thanks again for all your support!
